OPP have identified the victims of a Highway 69 crash that killed two people on Saturday.

Police say a 72-year-old man and a 71-year-old woman, a husband and wife from Parry Sound, died when a pickup truck attempted to pass two camper trucks, forcing their SUV to strike one of the campers head on.  

The crash happened on Highway 69, about three kilometres south of Pointe au Baril, in Shawanaga Township.

The man and the woman were pronounced dead at the scene. The two occupants of the pickup truck and two people inside the camper were transported to hospital with minor injuries.

The highway was closed for nearly 12 hours whileOPP investigated.

Police have not said if they will be laying charges.
