A motorcyclist was sent to hospital on Friday night, following a crash near Georgian College.

According to Barrie police, the motorcyclist was travelling through the intersection of Duckworth Street and Bellfarm Road, when it was struck by a car at around 11:50 p.m.

The collision knocked the motorcyclist off the bike and to the ground, causing the car to come to a rest on top of the motorcycle. The 30-year-old rider was sent to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre with minor injuries.

The 19-year-old driver of the car was charged with careless driving. Police say he also failed a breathalyzer test and was given a three-day suspension.
