A deal has been reached to reopen a popular bar in Wasaga Beach for the busy Victoria Day long-weekend.

At town council on Monday night, it was revealed that “Bananas Beach Club” will reopen for the long-weekend. Two other bars, the "Dardanella" and the "Copa Cabana" are expected to open in the weeks to come.

The three bars are now owned by the Town of Wasaga Beach, after council purchased a large portion of Beach Area One for $13.8 million. Some of the businesses had a checkered past under private ownership, often closing because of missed rent or other infractions.

Town officials say they've been working for the past few weeks to set a new tone by establishing new lease rates and terms.

Talks are also underway to fill some other vacant beachfront businesses with new tenants.
