A Kleinburg woman has been identified as the deceased in Monday night’s fatal crash on Highway 400 in Barrie.

According to the OPP, the woman was driving a car on the on-ramp linking Essa Road and southbound Highway 400 when she lost control of the vehicle.

Investigators say the car then went into the southbound lanes of the highway, where it was struck by a tractor trailer. The collision happened just before 10 p.m.

The 18-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the transport truck was not injured in the crash.

Highway 400 southbound was closed between Dunlop Street and Essa Road for several hours, while police probed the scene.
