Three days after an EF1 tornado ripped through the township of Udney east of Orillia, cleanup crews and residents were still working hard today to deal with the damage.

As they worked to remove debris, many Udney residents were still in shock Monday.

“We were hiding under the stairs when we heard a big bang and all of the windows blew out of this side of the house,” said Udney resident Lindsay Morris. “It was all over in 30 seconds.”

In Orillia, the taped off area around Couchiching Beach Park in Orillia is growing progressively smaller as crews finish cleaning up the city.

Resident Al Bayne was impressed with the clean-up.

“Saturday morning there were a dozen, fifteen trees down, and now we are Monday morning and they have it all cleared up. They will be done and the tapes will be down today. The city of Orillia has done a fabulous job. They really have.”

Tudhope Park and Couchiching Beach Park in Orillia were hit by weather classified as a “severe downburst.”

At Six Mile Lake, where the storm was also severe, 3000 hydro customers are still without power.
