A 9-year-old boy had to be rescued after he was caught by a current swimming in a creek in Springwater Township on Wednesday afternoon.

It happened in Willow Creek, near Highway 26 and Vespra Valley Road around 2:45 p.m.

Springwater Deputy Fire Chief Craig Williams says the boy and his mother were swimming in the creek when they got caught up in the fast-flowing water. Emergency services were contacted and the boy was rescued using ropes and lifejackets.
