The search continues for a missing Cape Breton soldier in Owen Sound.

An OPP helicopter spent a good portion of Wednesday searching over Georgian Bay and outskirts of the city for Pte. Andrew Fitzgerald.

At the same time, underwater search and recovery teams continued their efforts, while officers and members of the military searched through heavy brush.

The 19-year-old was last seen on Saturday at about 4:30 a.m. at the Petro Canada gas station at 16th Street East and 9th Avenue.

Teams spent part of the day searching in the east end of the city – moving through several fields located about three kilometres from the gas station where he was last seen.

He was wearing a black baseball hat, a red plaid button-up shirt, a white T-shirt, beige pants and black skateboarding shoes.

The Canadian Armed Forces, OPP and Owen Sound Police have combined resources to search for Fitzgerald.

On Tuesday, officials said heavy downpours on Tuesday affected their search efforts.

The search teams will be dressed in their military and police uniforms and are asking the public to not approach or impede their activities.

If you do find anything you feel might help the search team, such as clothing, please do not touch and call police immediately.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
