A tornado warning has ended for areas around Orangeville, Grand Valley, Caledon and Southern Dufferin County.

Environment Canada says they were tracking a severe thunderstorm that could have produced a tornado on Saturday. Damaging winds, hail and heavy downpours were also possible.

The warning was also issued in the Waterloo Region and parts of southern Wellington County.

The weather office says they received two reports of tornadoes from witnesses. One was in the Caledon area and another not far from Waterloo. It's not yet known if a tornado touched down in either area.

Environment Canada says a witness also spotted a tornado just before 1 p.m. on the southeast shore of Lake Simcoe near Sunset Beach. The tornado was reportedly heading northeast, just south of Beaverton.

The weather office issued a tornado warning for Georgina, Newmarket, Beaverton and Uxbridge. It was later cancelled.

Environment Canada tells CTV News that the report they received was credible enough because it matched what they were seeing on the radar. However, the witness didn't provide a photograph.

A number of trees were damaged in the area near Pefferlaw. A resident living on Lake Ridge Road says a neighbouring garage in Georgina was even leveled by the storm.

It's not yet known if a tornado touched down, but the office hopes to send an investigator on Monday.
