Provincial police are probing a suspicious fire in Huntsville.

Emergency crews were called to a fire at a five unit building on Main Street West on Aug. 15. Firefighters arrived to find three people stranded on the roof, while smoke billowed from the lower part of the building.

The other occupants were able to escape, and the trio were successfully rescued by fire crews. No injuries were reported and damage was estimated at $100,000.

Fire investigators have since determined that the blaze had started in a basement bedroom and has been deemed suspicious.

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office and the OPP Muskoka crime unit is now investigating.
