A Newmarket woman has been charged after allegedly firing a pellet gun at people playing Pokemon Go.

According to York Regional Police, people were playing the popular mobile game in the area of Main Street South and Water Street on Saturday night, when they were shot at by a woman.

Witnesses told police the woman fired the shots from the roof of a nearby apartment building. Officers located the suspect inside one of the units and seized a handgun-style pellet gun.

Investigators believe four pellets were fired, but they all missed. No one was injured in the incident.

The 29-year-old was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The accused will appear in court at a future date.
