Last month’s real estate numbers are out and the cost to buy a house in Barrie is now over $600,000.

According to new information provided by Barrie & District Association of Realtors, the cost of a detached residential property rose 36 per cent when compared to April 2016.

Townhouses and semi-detached homes rose to an average selling price of $438,091, up 36 per cent when compared to last year. Condo sales are up to $348,312.

In Springwater Township, the average selling price of a detached home was $731,260, up 51 per cent. In Oro-Medonte selling prices hovered at $731,000, also up 51 per cent.

In Innisfil, prices hit $682,000, an increase of 56 per cent. While in Essa Township, the average home price hit $561,354, up 35 per cent.

The association says supply last month was low, but the demand continued to be high.
