An elderly Guelph man has been charged after police say he was clocked going nearly 100 km/h over the posted speed limit.

An officer with Dufferin OPP was conducting radar enforcement on Saturday, along a stretch of Airport Road in the Town of Mono.

Police say the officer clocked a Toyota Sequoia travelling 174 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

The officer stopped the vehicle and charged the 71-year-old driver with racing. The man’s licence was suspended and his car was impounded for seven days.

The accused will appear before an Orangeville court at a later date.
