A piece of bridge near Angus is being blamed for a collision that ripped the blade off a plow this morning, closing a busy highway for hours.

The crash happened early this morning on County Road 90 when the plow hit an expansion joint and damaged the bridge east of Angus.

A structural engineer from The County of Simcoe had to be called in to inspect the bridge.

“We brought in a structural engineer to make sure that the bridge is still secure and it is,” said Simcoe County’s Debbie Korolnek.

The bridge was closed for more than 9 hours and was reopened late Monday afternoon.
