The Special Investigation Unit has been called in to investigate after a standoff between police and a 36-year-old man in Orangeville overnight.
The incident started after Orangeville Police arrived at the man’s home with an arrest warrant but he refused to surrender.
Tactical unit officers from several OPP Detachments including Barrie, Collingwood and Dufferin were called to help.
Several homes in the area were evacuated as a precaution while police negotiated with the man. He was eventually taken into custody shortly before 3 a.m. on Friday morning. He was taken to hospital with a broken wrist.
The SIU probes any incident involving death or injury that happens during the course of a police investigation.
