With the temperatures continuing to rise, skiers took to Mount St. Louis Moonstone on Saturday to close out their season on the slopes with a splash.
Dozens of skiers trekked down the slopes, some for the last time, as Mount St. Louis gets set to end their skiing season. To commemorate the finale, skiers dressed in wacky and retro outfits to skip across a water course set up at the bottom of the hill as part of the inaugural pond skim.
Using their momentum, skiers tried to skip across the water to get to the other side. Points were awarded to competitors for presentation, distance and crowd appeal.
Mount St. Louis and Snow Valley will end their ski seasons on Sunday – joining Horseshoe Resort on the sidelines. Officials with Blue Mountain say they will remain open for the foreseeable future, pending weather.
However, as the ski season ends, the golf season begins. Several golf courses throughout the region have opened their doors and golfers are already teeing off.
