City mail services impacted by Canada Post strike

The City of Barrie is reminding residents of alternate methods to pay for bills and fines after Canada Post workers went on strike on Friday.
In a release, City staff reminded residents that they are still obligated to pay tax and water/wastewater bills as well as any fines/infractions by the due date.

As a result of the Canada Post mail service interruption, City staff are encouraging residents to pay their water/wastewater bills using online methods, or by dropping off a cheque at a bank or at Service Barrie. Pre-authorized payments are also recommended.
For court services, residents are asked to pay for tickets online or by phone. Trial requests and other applications are encouraged to be made via email or in person.
Payments for automated speed enforcement tickets can be paid online for up to 75 days from the date issued.
Canada Post mail service was interrupted on Friday after the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) and Canada Post failed to reach a negotiated settlement.
