Kennedy’s Lakeside Grocery in Barrie formally celebrated its opening on Friday, becoming the City’s only grocery store in the downtown core.

A ribbon cutting ceremony took place just outside the Collier Street store with storeowners Adam and Heather Kennedy, Mayor Alex Nuttall, and Barrie Chamber of Commerce executive director Paul Markle.

The store opened its doors in late October and aims to offer fresh locally sourced groceries.

The 3,500 square foot store also staffs an on-site butcher and red seal chef.

Business hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday to Saturday and from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday according to the store’s Instagram page.
