Driver clocked at more than 70 km/hr over speed limit

A driver was charged after allegedly travelling nearly double the speed limit in Kawartha Lakes Saturday afternoon.

According to a social media post by OPP, the driver was clocked at 152 kilometres per hour in an 80-kilometres-per-hour zone. Police say a patrolling City of Kawartha Lakes OPP officer stopped the driver on County Road 48 near Balsam Lake.

The driver was charged with stunt driving. Their license was suspended for 30 days and their vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
