OPP are investigating the discovery of the remains of three people in a burned out vehicle in Oro-Medonte on Friday morning.

Officers responded to a vehicle fire around 5:40 a.m. on Holick Road off the 4th Line of Oro-Medonte.

After the fire was extinguished, officers found what is believed to be the remains of three people inside the vehicle.

The vehicle, with the remains inside, was taken to the Centre of Forensic Science in Toronto for further investigation.

Autopsies are scheduled for Saturday in Toronto and Holick Road will remain closed until they are completed.

OPP tell CTV News the fire was so hot and intense they were not able to make out the make or model of the vehicle but it did have an Ontario licence plate so they don't have reason to believe the bodies are related to the disappearance of a 5-year-old boy and his grandparents from Calgary.

Police are not releasing the gender of the victims or identity of the victims and say they are unaware of any reports of missing people in the area.

Police are asking anyone who may have observed any suspicious activity in the area over the past two days to contact investigators at 1-888-310-1122.
