Annual Muskoka Pioneer Power Show

Details:    This year’s event will mark the 34th Annual Show. The theme is “FORD”. Join in this year to celebrate Henry Ford and all things Ford. Cars, trucks, tractors and more. Have an Antique or Collector Car, Truck, Motorcycle, Snowmobile etc.? Bring it out to the show so others can enjoy them too. Popular features at the show include heritage display rooms, Waterous saw mill demonstrations, Mowry shingle mill, log cabin, blacksmith shop, Linn tractor, engine displays, country store, antique tractor pulls, classic & antique vehicles, engine displays and a Grand Parade on Sat. Heritage Days

Heritage Day

Location: Burk’s Falls - Watt Century Farmhouse Heritage Centre - 827 Chetwynd Road
Details:    Visit Burks Falls for Heritage day for a fun fill day for everyone! Teams of firefighters will converge on the field to test their skill, strength, and stamina! We invite families to come out and meet the five competing fire departments from Almaguin! This event offers an opportunity for the public to interact with fire crews and witness the demands of being a firefighter. Also in attendance will be the Royal Canadiana, a vintage hydroplane! This 1963 race boat still holds the world speed record for its class! The Royal Canadiana was Canada’s first 7 Litre hydroplane. There will be a 50 foot inflatable obstacle course for the big kids. There will also be games, popcorn and face painting. A BBQ lunch is available for purchase from the Almaguin Trefoil Guild and the Burk’s Falls Skating Club will be hosting a bake sale. Visitors are encouraged to visit the Historical Farmhouse, to take a step back in time, to check out all the historical artifacts and to drop a donation to our Historical Society.

17th Annual Purple Turtle Festival

Details:    Come see amazing and original paintings, sculptures, photography, pottery, jewellery, woodcraft, native art, and other mediums. More than 35 artisans from Toronto to Tory Hill, Ontario, as well as local artists, have been selected. Stroll around the lush meadow, enjoy a BBQ prepared by the Briars’ chefs and shop with our vendors, keeping in mind holidays, birthdays, weddings and any other special occasions.

Ramara Classic Car Show

Details:    Six years ago the Ramara Chamber of Commerce held its first Ramara Classic Car Show at Crate’s Marina, now Brechin Dry Dock Marine, Lagoon City, Brechin, Ontario. Since then the event has grown to attract approximately 2000 visitors and 150 automobile exhibitors. This year, visitors will once again enjoy DJ’d music, browse the Vendor Booths, and enjoy the Brechin Legion’s BBQ as they tour the amazing vehicles; from antique legends and classic cars & trucks to muscle & modified cars. Visitor admission to the show is free!

Georgian Bay Garden Tour
Date:      Saturday, July 14 from 9am to 4pm
Location:  Various locations in the Midland Area (Penetanguishene, Tay, Tiny)
Details:    The Georgian Bay Garden Tour is an annual event held in the communities of Midland Penetanguishene, Tiny and Tay, surrounding Southern Georgian Bay. Local gardeners open their home property for viewing on the day of the Tour.  The event features a self-guided tour ticket with maps and garden descriptions for over 12 gardens that are open to ticket holders during the tour. It features real gardens created by their owners with an occasional professionally landscaped property design.  The properties are both urban and rural, ranging from tiny intimate spaces, to acreage in the country. There is also a local farm featured because the importance of sustainable, local and organic food sources cannot be overstated. The Georgian Bay Garden Tour is a fund raising event supporting community charity agencies and organizations. This year, the Tour is partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters North Simcoe.

Culture Bridge Festival

Details:    Experience your neighbour’s culture here in your own community – no passport needed. Culture Bridge Festival (CBF), a Celebration of Cultural Diversity, plans a variety of social experiences for everyone, children through to grandparents, that will bring them out of their homes and into the community to sing, dance and eat together in Newmarket (and East Gwillimbury). Be entertained by the various World artistic and cultural contributions, to the vibrant Canadian mosaic. Revel in the exciting, inviting intercultural exchange of songs, dances, magicians, food vendors, food trucks (come hungry), a marketplace, workshops and a Kidzone, along with a huge splash pad for the little ones.

Kids Downtown

Details:    This family oriented entertainment show allows you to bring a lawn chair or a blanket to delight in the evening's kid-friendly entertainment. July 10 – Sing along with Russ. 10th Anniversary - Island Lake Bass Fishing Derby
Date:      Saturday, July 14 – Sunday, July 15
Location:  Orangeville - Island Lake Conservation Area - 673067 Hurontario Street
Details:    There will be 10 tagged bass, each worth $100 to be caught during the derby!
6000+ in prizes on the line for the top 10 bass and the top pike, perch, and crappie. The two day catch & release derby was hosted by the Friends of Island Lake as a fundraiser for Island Lake Conservation Area.

Muskoka Butter Tart Festival

Details:    The 2018 Muskoka Butter Tart Festival is adding more food-related displays this year!  Butter tarts priced by vendors. Butter tarts are on sale from opening at 10am, so be there on time as they usually sell out by noon! Come on over for a delicious treat and learn about the history of butter tarts in Muskoka with our butter tart display spread throughout each room of the museum!

Stayner Arts Festival

8th Annual Collingwood Art on the Street

Details:    For the 8th annual year, the streets of Downtown Collingwood will become an outdoor gallery of art. Artists hand paint original Muskoka chairs and artistic banners that are displayed throughout the town from May to October. Art on the Street showcases the diversity and talent of the creative community while enlivening the streets of Collingwood. Presented by Collingwood Downtown and the Town of Collingwood.

Sainte-Marie among the Hurons - 2018 Season

Details:    Opens for the season! Ontario’s first European Community, Sainte-Marie among the Hurons was the headquarters for the French Jesuit Mission to the Huron Wendat people. Visitors get a unique opportunity to see the earliest Canadian pioneer life, through guided or self-guided visits, school group tours, interactive education programs and special events.  Visit the Interpretive Museum and themed gift shop, and complete your stay with a delicious meal in Restaurant Sainte-Marie. Sainte-Marie among the Hurons is pleased to offer fun and informative demonstrations and “hands-on” activities that share aspects of life in the 17th century. These include 17th century fire-starting, historic clothing and medicine, native games, 17th century music, historic cooking, and more. Additional activities for children will feature quill pen writing, candle making and corn husk doll making.

Ghost Tours at Discovery Harbour

Details:    A spooky guided tour by candlelight featuring encounters with apparitions in the window and footsteps in the hallway.  Tales of actual people associated with the Military and Naval Establishments will include that of the McGarraty brothers who died on the march from York in June of 1831 and the tale of Private James Drury who died New Year’s Eve 1836 on guard duty at Officers’ Quarters.  Recommended for ages 10 and up.

South Georgian Bay Film Festival

Details:    The South Georgian Bay Film Festival's (SGBFF) mission is to give regional, national and international filmmakers a platform to express their ideas and visions, as well as provide a venue to showcase the products of their creativity inclusive of the visual and dramatic arts, music industry and cultural background. The 2018 South Georgian Bay Film Festival is scheduled to take place July 7th to 14th, 2018, consisting of a week of View and Vote Events taking place at various venues throughout South Georgian Bay leading up to the Red Carpet Awards Gala on July 14, 2018, at the Wasaga CountryLife Resort, 91 Theme Park Drive, Wasaga Beach, Ontario.

Discovery Harbour – 2018 Season
