A 40-year-old man suffered serious injuries after he was struck by a car while jogging in Orangeville on Thursday afternoon.

It happened on Townline around 5:25 p.m.

Police say the jogger had stopped for a red light and when it turned green he crossed the road was struck by the car.

A 28-year-old Orangeville man was driving the car and failed to stop for the red light, police say.

Townline was closed between John Street and Hannah Street for more than two hours while police investigated.

The investigation continues and police say charges are pending.

Police would also like to thank the public who stopped and helped during the incident.
