Six candidates are rivalling to represent York-Simcoe, a Conservative stronghold.

Incumbent Scot Davidson has had a short eight months to settle into his seat in Ottawa. The Conservative candidate won a by-election in February to succeed long-time MP Peter Van Loan.

Davidson campaigned in Sutton on Friday, just west of his Georgina hometown.

He says the issues he hears most about while door-knocking are affordability, the protection of Lake Simcoe, and healthcare.

"They're concerned about spending $36 billion on a pharmacare program," he says most that he speaks with say they don't have a family doctor. "These are the issues that are important to people when you go door to door and actually talk about the issues."

Green Party candidate, Jonathan Arnold, is a ballot first-timer.

He believes millennials could play a pivotal role in his party's success with issues such as climate action and Lake Simcoe protection.

"We had millions of people march across our nation and use their voice and all they have to do it get out and vote for it. We know that Canada has more potential for a green energy sector. It's just time to get big oil out of our politics."

Meanwhile, NDP candidate Jessa McLean canvassed in Bradford.

She says the top priorities are pharmacare, climate change and affordable living.

"I think levels of poverty are really starting to get to people and inequality. When we tell them that we're going to tax the rich, that the one percent is finally going to pay their fair share."

In Jackson's Point, Liberal candidate Cynthia Wesley-Esquimaux says the cost of housing, property taxes and immigration are the top concerns.

She adds that while the riding is historically painted blue, she hopes that voters don't vote Tory because of their parents.

"I'm telling people that it's not a good enough reason. I mean, you really need to look at the platforms. You really need to understand if the conservatives say they're taking 53 billion out of the spending budget, where's that coming from?"

With only days before voters head to the polls, the question remains, have candidates done enough? Will a new party take the seat - or will Davidson have York-Simcoe seeing blue for another four years?

Also running in this riding are Libertarian Keith Komar and Michael Lotter with the People's Party of Canada.
