We are just over a month into winter but we are seeing record snowfall amounts in parts of our region.

According to Environment Canada’s Geoff Coulson, as of January 28th - Muskoka has received 375.4 centimetres of snow so far this winter. The region usually averages 333.9 cm.

Thornbury, in Grey County, has had 335.5 cm of snow. Their average for the winter is 259.1 cm.

In Shanty Bay, just north of Barrie, 198.6 cm of snow has fallen so far this winter. That is below the average of 267.3 cm.

In Haliburton 203.2 cm of snow has fallen but 60 centimetres still has to fall for the region to reach their average of 262.2 cm.

And in Buttonville 98.6 cm of snow has hit the ground. Their average snowfall is 141 cm.
