Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital in Orillia has decided to close one of its four operating rooms for three months in the New Year to keep on budget.

The hospital says without the move to close one operating room from January through March of 2014, it will be $800,000 over budget.

The move will affect close to 200 surgeries and will likely increase wait time for non-urgent cases.

Doctors are still assessing how to implement the move and are working with operating staff.

The hospital says no emergency surgeries will be affected.
