Sauna fire creates cloud of smoke over part of Barrie's south end

Dark clouds of smoke loomed over Barrie residents from a nearby parking lot in the south end.

On Sunday just after 3 p.m., Barrie Fire attended the area of Bayview Drive and Mollard Court for reports of a fire.

When officials arrived on location, they were faced with a handful of saunas sitting in a parking lot, one of which was covered in smoke and flames.

Officials say the hot blaze was put out fairly quickly, a second fire team remained on scene to monitor the situation.

The outcome of the fire left a plume of smoke in the sky, some drivers reported seeing the gloomy clouds during their drive along Highway 400.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is undetermined.
