A 51-year-old teacher from Georgina has been charged with sexual assault following allegations involving a student.

York Regional Police launched an investigation earlier this month after they say a student reported being assaulted by a teacher in September.

Police say Andrew Hagerman, 51, has been working as a high school teacher with the York Regional District School Board, but did not specify which school.

They also say he is a volleyball coach in Keswick.

“Investigators believe there may be additional victims,” York Regional Police stated in a release.

They encourage anyone with information in the case to reach out, and remind the public there is no statute of limitations when reporting sexual offences.

The allegation against the accused has not been tested in court.
