Man arrested after alleged road rage involving firearm on Hwy 11

Provincial police are investigating after an alleged road rage incident involving a firearm on Highway 11 in Oro-Medonte.

According to OPP, officers responded to a report of a passenger in one vehicle brandishing a firearm at another driver on Thursday.

Police say officers quickly located the vehicle and conducted a “high-risk takedown” near Memorial Avenue and Woodland Drive in Orillia.

A 25-year-old man from Clearview Township was taken into custody without incident.

He is facing charges of pointing a firearm, four counts of possessing a firearm contrary to prohibition orders and failing to comply with probation orders.

The OPP confirmed this is being treated as an isolated incident, and there is no threat to public safety.

Officers urge anyone with information related to the incident to contact the authorities.
