One man is facing charges after a vehicle allegedly fled from police during an attempted traffic stop in Orillia on Wednesday morning.

Police say the situation began when officers conducting patrols tried to pull over a vehicle to the side of the road, but instead, it sped off.

Later, citizens reported seeing a suspicious person and vehicle matching the earlier description, helping officers to make an arrest.

A 41-year-old man faces charges of dangerous operation, flight from a peace officer, and operating a vehicle without insurance.

Police encourage anyone with information on suspicious activity to report it to the authorities.

“Officers value your contribution to building safe communities. If you have information that may be helpful, please contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous at 1-800-222-8477,” OPP stated in a release.
