A Perry Township man has been charged with attempted murder after an incident at the Central North Correctional Centre in Penetanguishene.
Southern Georgian Bay OPP were called to the correctional centre on Sunday after a male inmate was found in his cell with serious injuries.
The inmate was transported to a local hospital and was later airlifted to a Toronto-area hospital in critical conditions.
The accused, a 24-year-old, has been charged with attempt murder and aggravated assault.
The investigation is ongoing.
