The winners of the Lotto Max Maxmillions draw in Barrie and Wasaga Beach have claimed their prizes.

Daniel Wilcox of Barrie won $1 million in Friday’s draw, purchasing his ticket at a Becker’s in Scarborough. He says he was shocked when he found out he won.

“I scanned my ticket in the ticket-checker when I was at the gas station,” Wilcox said while claiming his prize in Toronto. “I was shocked when I realized I won!”

The 26-year-old says he went for ice cream to celebrate. He plans to buy a house and a motorcycle with his winnings.

At the same time, Richard Brancati of Wasaga Beach is celebrating his $1 million win. He picked up his winning ticket at The Corner Market on Mosley Street in Wasaga Beach.

“I was at the corner store before the draw and I overheard people talking about Lotto Max. I decided to buy a few tickets,” he said. “I went back to the store following the draw and store employee told me there was a winner from Wasaga Beach. The machine froze and it said ‘big winner.’”

Brancati says he plans to open a restaurant, purchase a new car and help pay off his kids’ school tuition.

Two other winning tickets worth $1 million were sold in Orillia and Owen Sound.

This week’s Lotto Max jackpot is worth an estimated $50 million, plus 50 additional prizes worth $1 million each.
