York Regional Police have made several arrests after marijuana and a sawed-off rifle were discovered, and two men fled the scene.
On Wednesday, at about 7:30 p.m. police officer spotted two vehicles in an otherwise empty parking lot of a commercial building in Vaughan.
Police say when they approached the vehicles, occupied by four men; there was a strong smell of marijuana coming from inside one of the vehicles. Police told the men they were under arrest. As they were being handcuffed, police say two of the men fled on foot.
The two suspects were found hiding in a nearby warehouse, and were taken into custody.
Police say they later found a sawed-off .22 caliber rifle and marijuana in one of the vehicles.
“The dedicated work of our frontline members resulted in drugs and a dangerous weapon being removed from our streets,” says York Regional Police Chief Eric Jolliffe.
The suspects have been held in custody and are each scheduled to appear for a bail hearing.
