Residents in Tiny Township are being credited for rescuing two young men after their canoe capsized on Saturday.

According to OPP, the men were in a canoe just off Deanlea Beach, when the vessel capsized around 6 p.m. Police say the two, who were not wearing personal flotation devices (PDF), were in the water calling for help.

Nearby cottage residents got in their boats and brought the men back to shore.

The two men, ages 22 and 23, have been charged for not having the proper safety equipment on board the canoe.

Police are reminding the public to always wear a lifejacket or PDF while on a boat.
