A man has been sent to hospital, following a Wednesday stabbing in Uxbridge.
Durham Regional police were called to the area of Brock Street East and Third Avenue, around 3 p.m. for a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, police located the 23-year-old victim suffering from several stab wounds.
Through their investigation, police learned that the victim was looking for an acquaintance’s stolen property, when he was approached by a group of young males. Officers say the victim was stabbed with a knife after a verbal argument with one of the teens.
The suspect fled the scene, but was apprehend by police a short time later at the Uxbridge Public Library. A 17-year-old is charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of weapons dangerous.
The victim was rushed to a local hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. He was later transferred to a Toronto-area trauma centre.
