Georgian College has announced a new scholarship for people affected by the Syrian refugee crisis.

According to Georgian College president Marylynn West-Moynes, the scholarship includes tuition, books, textbooks and ancillary fees.

West-Moynes says the school would be ready to start in January, but she believes it would take longer for potential students to come.

“Hopefully in January or September we will see a couple of students studying here and that would be fantastic, I think.”

Right now, the scholarship will support up to seven students affected by the events in Syria.  In the future, the scholarship will be opened up to students from other countries as well.
