Young driver charged after crashing car & fleeing the scene: OPP

Police say a  young driver crashed a four-door sedan and then fled the scene.

The G2 driver crashed into a guide wire from a hydro pole, stopping on a lawn on Muskoka Beach Road near Old Muskoka Road in Gravenhurst Tuesday.

Provincial police say the 19-year-old driver had been travelling at a relatively high rate of speed in the residential area.

Police connected the car with its registered owner, who they say attended the scene to meet with officers.

The Barrie driver was charged with careless driving and failing to remain at a collision under the Highway Traffic Act.
