OPP arrested a Barrie resident Thursday evening after they allegedly stole a gift from an unlocked vehicle.

Police say a vehicle owner reported that a special gift was stolen from a parked vehicle in a local hospital parking lot early Thursday morning.

The ensuing investigation allowed officers to locate the suspect and arrest them at the scene of another incident at a William Street residence in Midland late Thursday evening.

A 25-year-old Barrie resident was charged with theft from a motor vehicle and failure to comply with a probation order. They were held for a bail hearing and are scheduled for a future court date.
