Transit services may soon begin running between Midland and Penetanguishene.

Midland councillors met on Monday night to consider a plan, which would see a bus service connect the two communities.

“This is something we’ve talked about for many, many years is how to get people to the two communities,” says Midland Mayor Gord McKay.

Council passed the motion on Monday night. McKay says he is all in favour of the proposition.

“In particular we have a hospital here in Midland, there is none in Penetanguishene and many people have to either get a taxi or don’t make it.”

The contract for the new service is for two years, and if the Town of Penetanguishene approves the deal on Wednesday, buses will begin running in January.
