The future site of a new secondary school in Barrie may finally be decided on Monday.

Barrie city council will hear from Simcoe County District School Board officials, as they present an updated proposal for a south-end high school.

Council rejected a proposal by the board in September, which purposed building the new school near a future subdivision. However, the city wants the school built near the Mapleview Drive and Prince William Way intersection.

Councillors were set to ratify that decision in September, but decided to defer the matter after the school board reached out to the city and asked for more time. The decision was deferred for a second time earlier this month.

City administration is recommending the project only be approved by councillors if the plan is amended to reflect the preferred location.

The school board is set to present their final site plan for the project at Monday night’s meeting.
