Multiple charges after drug bust in Angus

After receiving a tip about a man selling drugs in Angus late last year, the Nottawasaga Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) initiated a drug trafficking investigation in Essa Township 

On Friday, police watched the man conducting several drug transactions. Police moved in and arrested him on County Road 10.

Police searched the vehicle and seized a conducted energy weapon, 12 grams cocaine (valued at about $1,200), $1,550 in cash, a baseball bat , three scales, packaging used to package drugs, and drug paraphernalia.

A 62-years-old Essa man was charged with:

  • Possession of a cocaine
  • Trafficking cocaine
  • Possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon at an unauthorized place
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Fail to notify change of address
  • No clear view to front
  • Operate unsafe vehicle
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
  • Drive motor vehicle, fail to display two plates
  • Drive with improper headlights

 The accused was held for a bail hearing appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Monday.
