York Regional Police will be returning stolen war medals and jewellery  to their owners on Friday that was recovered during a special investigation.

Between October 2010 and January 2014, a number of high-end homes throughout the GTA were broken into. A joint investigation with York Regional Police and Toronto Police dubbed “Project Spiderman” was launched and police were able to arrest a 43-year-old man in Bradford in January.

The man was using an array of sophisticated equipment while breaking into homes, including flexible spy-cams, parabolic listening devices and precious-metal testers. Police say the suspect often scaled the exteriors and entered homes through skylights and second-storey windows to avoid alarm systems.

A number of search warrants have been executed and police have recovered hundreds of stolen items including watches, jewelry and, most recently, war medals.

Police will show off the items on Friday April 25th at 11 a.m. at their #2 District Headquarters in Richmond Hill.
