A snow squall watch is in effect for areas around Georgian Bay and Lake Simcoe as winter is set to return to the area.

Environment Canada says snow squalls could develop overnight into Saturday from Parry Sound south through Orillia and Barrie and west into the Bruce Penninsula.

A cold Arctic air-mass is establishing over the Great Lakes regions and they say current information suggests snowsqualls could develop tonight downwind of Georgian Bay and northern Lake Huron.

The squalls could last most of Saturday and could bring up from 20 centimetres of snow in some areas over 12 hours.

Environment Canada warns of low visibility because of snow and blowing snow, and motorists are urged to be careful when heading out on the roads.
