Trinity Anglican Church will allow the David Busby Street Centre to stay until the end of August.

The shelter had asked the church to extend its tenancy until the end of the month, since it’s planning to move into a leased space at the start of September.

“This is a great comfort to our clients knowing that we will have continuous service during this transitional period for our organization,” says Executive Director Sara Peddle.

The shelter has been at the church for 21 years.

The David Busby Street Centre will be leasing space as it moves toward a shared-facility solution through Barrie Pathways at a new location at 88-90 Mulcaster St.

The church says it made the decision to allow the centre to stay because of the long relationship the two organizations have had. The church plans to set up a fund so its parishioners can keep supporting the shelter through donations.

A BBQ is planned for Aug. 27 for parishioners, participants, volunteers, and neighbours.
