The province’s Special Investigation Unit is investigating what it calls a ‘custody injury’ after an incident in Barrie on Wednesday night.

Barrie police say at about 8:40 p.m., police tried to stop of a speeding vehicle, when it collided with another vehicle.

The driver fled on foot, climbed over a fence and suffered a head injury after falling to the ground on the other side. He was taken to RVH and treated for a head injury.

The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

Anne Street was closed over night but opened shortly before 8:00 a.m.

The SIU investigates also reports involving police where there is death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
