Severe thunderstorm watch has ended for most of the region

Environment Canada has now ended severe thunderstorm watches for most of the region. A severe thunderstorm can produce very strong wind gusts, dime to nickel size hail and heavy rain.

There is a severe thunderstorm watch still in effect for the following areas:       

·         Innisfil - New Tecumseth - Angus

·         Orangeville - Grand Valley - Southern Dufferin County

·         Shelburne - Mansfield - Northern Dufferin County

Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and turnover large vehicles. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling.

The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
