The first in a series of information sessions on the future of health care services at two area hospitals begins Monday night in Gravenhurst.

Hundreds of people are expected to be in attendance at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 302 on Monday at 7 p.m., to hear the options and voice their opinion on proposed changes at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital.

Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare, the governing body for both hospitals, is in the process of examining four operating models for the two facilities.

The options include the construction of a single site acute care hospital, the reallocation of services or the continuation of the current services at both hospitals.

Over the weekend, hundreds of people rallied in Bracebridge and Huntsville to oppose the changes, but this will be the first official opportunity for the community to provide feedback.

Additional meetings are scheduled for Tuesday in Bracebridge and Wednesday in Huntsville.

Mike Walker will be at tonight’s meeting and will have the latest at 11 p.m.
