Police throw the book at a pair in Muskoka Lakes District
A simple traffic stop in Muskoka leads to a slew of charges for a driver and his companion.
An alleged speeding car on Muskoka Road, 169 near Acton Island Road led police to demand they pull over on September 14 just after midnight.

One person in the vehicle was transported to the hospital by paramedics with an unrelated and non-life-threatening condition.
Police continued their investigation and charged a 34-year-old Port Carling man with:
- Operation while impaired
- Possession of cocaine
- Obstruct peace officer
- Personation with intent to avoid arrest, Breach of recognizance
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Carrying a concealed weapon
- The occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
- Transport firearm in a careless manner
- Possession of a firearm or ammunition
- Possession of schedule I substance for trafficking – cocaine
- Several Highway Traffic Act offences
Police also charged the occupant, 43-year-old Barrie woman, with:
- Possession of schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Carrying a concealed weapon
- The occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
- Transport firearm in a careless manner
- Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
They were both held in custody and appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on Saturday to answer to their charges.
