Police located and arrested a male suspect Saturday evening in relation to an alleged assault incident that occurred earlier this week in Gooderham.

On Thursday evening, Haliburton Highlands OPP officers responded to an assault at a residence on County Road 503 near Gooderham. Police say a male suspect fled the scene before the officers arrived, which prompted a large-scale search of the area. The victim was treated for minor injuries.

Then, on Saturday evening, OPP learned that the suspect was potentially hiding somewhere on Community Centre Road in Highlands East. Officers located the male and arrested him without further incident.

The 40-year-old from Cobourg was charged with assault, two counts of uttering threats to cause death and five counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.

The accused has a virtual bail hearing on Sunday.
