City of Barrie crowns chilli contest winner

A competition to crown Barrie's most delectable chilli recipe was held on Saturday.
The Barrie chilli contest kicked off at 11 a.m. at the Barrie farmers market and featured 13 different bowls of chili from local vendors.
Judges at the event included Ward 2 city councillor Craig Nixon and CTV News Anchor Dana Roberts.
The event was part of the Western Day series at the farmers' market.
"It was purely raising awareness for the community, the Barrie farmers market is here every Saturday and there is a strong sense of community and amazing food here all the time," said Lawrence Bangay, co-owner of Without Reservations who competed in the chilli cook-off.
Ted and Carolyn Cook of Cedar Hollow Alpaca Farm were crowned winners of the chilli contest.
The Barrie farmers market is a regular fixture, held at Barrie city hall every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., providing fresh produce and community spirit.
