The OPP and Toronto Police are back in Springwater Township today, October 9th.  They are investigating a possible lead in the disappearance of eight year old Nicole Morin who went missing from her Toronto home 29 years ago.

Nicole Morin was last seen in Etobicoke on July 30th, 1985 and investigators are in Springwater Township looking for any signs that may help solve the 8-year-olds disappearance.

Police have been searching ditches and deep brush in the area of Horseshoe Valley Road and Old Second South, but will not say what brought them to the area.

More than 40 officers are involved, including a canine unit, emergency response team and mobile support unit and have been combing the area since 8 am.

"We are just doing ground searches around here looking for any evidence of clothing," said Toronto Police Inspector Gerry Cashman. "If she's in here, it might be her clothing or shoes that she was wearing and if she did meet foul play that may be in here," he said.

In 1985, Morin left her Etobicoke apartment and headed to the ground floor to meet a friend to go swimming.

Police are unsure whether Morin actually made it to the lobby that day.

At the time of her disappearance, she was described as 4-foot-2 with brown hair and brown eyes. Her ears were pierced, and she had a small birthmark on the upper right side of her forehead. She weighed approximately 60 pounds.

In July, police released a re-enactment video to keep her cold case alive.

If Morin is still alive, she's now 37 years old.
