Twelve of Barrie’s finest chefs compete for "Top Chef" title

Twelve of Barrie’s finest chefs competed for the coveted title of "Top Chef Barrie" on Saturday.

Representing different local restaurants, each chef put their best dish forward in a battle to win the taste buds of the community.

What made this competition unique was the absence of a panel of critics or professional judges—this was a people’s choice event.

The competition was held at Liberty North in Barrie.

“It was a hugely serious competition,” said Randy, one of the organizers. “They are putting their best foot forward and showing why you should come out to their restaurant and dine.”

The winning chef, Nxt Dor by 147, earned not only the title of Top Chef Barrie, but also the opportunity to showcase their winning dish at the Localicious Festival for the next three weeks.

The Localicious event runs from Jan., 17 to Feb., 2.

Photos and videos surfacing on social media revealed the success of the night, highlighting the talent and passion of Barrie’s culinary scene.
